³¹ We told him, ‘We are honest men, not spies! ³² We are twelve brothers, sons of one father. One is no more, and the youngest is at home with our father in the land of Canaan.’

³³ “But the man who is lord of the land answered us, ‘This is how I shall know if you are honest: leave one of your brothers here with me, take the grain you need for your household, and go.
